Katie Reiter grew up in this district in Southfield and is a proud graduate of Groves High School. After high school, Katie earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Michigan and then moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for the National League of Women Voters and earned a Master's Degree from The American University. After finishing her graduate degree, Katie moved back to Michigan to start her family and in 2001, Katie moved back to Southfield to raise her three children.

Katie is an experienced Small Business owner and has started, owned and managed numerous companies beginning at age 16 with Summer Aquatic Services. For over 20 years Katie has run her own health management consulting company, working with small to mid-size employers to design and implement health management and wellness programming for their workforce. In addition, in the last 5 years, Katie founded and managed Our Greentopia, an eco-lifestyle boutique providing sustainable lifestyle choices and offering the community a resource for affordable goods that are healthier for people and the planet.

In 2015, Katie's business, Our Greentopia, won the Detroit Free Press Green Leader Award in the Small Business category and in 2016, Katie shared the Berkley Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year Award.

Currently, Katie is Vice-President of the Berkley Chamber of Commerce and serves on the boards of the Southfield Lathrup Village Democratic Club and the Southfield Non-Profit Housing Corporation. She is also actively involved with the Michigan Indivisible movement and Moms Demand Action. She belongs to the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, the NAACP, the Human Rights Campaign, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, the Sierra Club and NOW.

Katie has attended multiple candidate trainings in the last year including the Progressive Change Campaign Committee's National Candidates training program in Washington D.C., Emily's List "Run To Win" and a joint Sierra Club and Michigan United candidate training.

Her three grown children are living on their own and Katie currently lives in Southfield with her husband Bob and their lovable but crazy rescue dog, Rocky.
